Mass Intention

If you would like to request a Mass Intention, you can fill out a Mass Intention envelope at the church or you can create an envelope with the following information: who the Mass Intention is for and whether the person is living or deceased, the date you are requesting, your name and a telephone number where you can be reached during the day, and the amount you are offering. You may drop your Mass Intention envelope in the collection basket or sent it to the office. If the date you request is unavailable, your intention will be scheduled for the next open date available unless you request otherwise.

In accordance with the guidelines from the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston. Mass stipends are deposited in a separate checking account. If you are writing a check, please make it payable to your respective church. The current suggested level of giving is $20 for a weekend Mass or $10 for a daily Mass. Any offering, however, is most welcome, and if you do not have funds to offer, you are encouraged to still request your Mass Intention.

Prayer List for the Sick & Homebound
As you know, we keep a list on the church bulletin of people who are sick and homebound. Please remember these people in your prayers and let us know if you have a special prayer request. Also, please let us know when we need to remove someone from the list.

Hearing Assistance Available
If you would like some hearing assistance during Mass, contact the church office.

World Mission Sunday Second Collection: October 21 & 22

World Mission Sunday is a global sign of the universal Church and Mission. We are invited to reach out and help build the Church in the most remote areas across our world. Your prayers and donations will support churches, schools, and vocations to the priesthood and religious life. Please be generous because it provides assistance to the young dioceses in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Pacific Islands.

The diocese was hit by two catastrophic hurricanes during September. All of the U.S. Virgin Islands felt the effects of both hurricanes—Hurricane Irma hit St. Thomas, St. John and Water Island while Hurricane Maria hit St. Croix. The area is still suffering from power outages and lack of communication as well as complete destruction in many areas.

Special envelopes have been provided to your parish to make the giving process easier. Checks for the relief fund should be made out to your respective parish with “Second Collection St. Thomas—US Virgin Islands” on the memo line.

“As we continue our prayers for the victims and first responders following these unprecedented events,” Bishop Bransfield said, “let us also spend time in prayer and discernment as we prepare for this upcoming collection. The wonderful generosity of the faithful of our diocese is a beautiful testament of our commitment to living out the values of Christ.”

"The History of the Church Through the Lives of the Popes " resumes October 22

"The History of the Church Through the Lives of the Popes" starts up again on Sunday, October 22 at 9:30 am. The presentation is about an hour long and gives you plenty of time before the 11:00 am Mass. You need not have attended any other presentation. Each Pope stands alone and, though there are some references made to previous Popes, it is really easy to follow. Hope to see you in the Family Room next Sunday before Mass.

Father Thomas will be out of the country from October 2, 2017 until November 6, 2017.

If you have a sacramental emergency during this time, please call the office at 304-755-0791. Weekday Masses are cancelled during his absence.

Diocese of St. Thomas—U.S. Virgin Islands Second Collection: October 28 & 29
In response to the critical need of our brothers and sisters in Christ of the Diocese of St. Thomas—U.S. Virgin Islands following hurricanes Irma and Maria, Most Rev. Michael J. Bransfield, bishop of the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston, has asked for each parish in the diocese to conduct a special collection Oct. 28 and 29 to assist in the relief efforts.
